Description

In October 2017, community members gathered to consider which of five priority areas (Poverty Reduction, Employment & Workforce Development, Community Safety, Healthy Living, Education) had the most energy and urgency for change in our community. When Education clearly came out on top, work began to determine a specific education outcome on which a collective impact effort should focus. The Collective Impact Project Team, informed by work by Transform Rockford, Alignment Rockford, and Rockford Public Schools, has determined that the focus outcome of this effort should be ensuring that every child is reading at or above grade level by the time they end third grade.

This June, we welcome Sylvia Cheuy of the Tamarack Institute back to Rockford to help continue to build a movement for change around the common agenda of improving third grade reading outcomes. You are invited to participate in a facilitated session designed to explore the role Alignment Rockford will play as a "backbone organization" and the additional capacity that may be provided by closely-linked partners. Additionally, we'll consider when and how to best engage community participants (families, students, and more) in this collective impact effort. You already play a key role in this work and your voice and experience are vital to inform the continued development of this movement. Please join us!
